Gift Aid
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities like Avid’s Angels Cat Rescue to claim back 25p for every £1 you donate.
This means that your contributions can go even further in supporting our rescue efforts.
By completing our Gift Aid Declaration Form (below) and giving your permission, we can reclaim the tax on your donation – and it won’t cost you a penny!
Please ensure you have read our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ below for further information.
You qualify for Gift Aid if the following apply:
- You are a UK tax payer
- You pay enough tax*
*You pay Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax) at a rate which is equal to, or more than, the amount we will reclaim in the tax year (currently 25p for every £1 you donate).

Frequently Asked Questions
To make a Gift Aid donation, you’ll need to make a Gift Aid declaration.
You can include all donations made since 2nd July 2024, and any future donations you may make.
Your donations will qualify as long as they’re not more than four times what you have paid in tax in that tax year (6 April to 5 April). The tax could have been paid on income or capital gains.
If you’ve selected ‘Multiple Donations’ on our Gift Aid Declaration Form, the declaration covers all donations since 2nd July 2024 and all future donations.
If you’ve selected ‘Single Donation’, please note that you will need to complete another Gift Aid Declaration Form for any further donations.
If you’ve changed your name, moved house or no longer qualify for Gift Aid due to a change in tax circumstance, please let us know by emailing admin@avidsangelscatrescue.co.uk
Charities can only claim back tax at the basic rate, but that’s still worth 25% to us, so please complete and return the declaration anyway.
As a higher-rate taxpayer you have the right to reclaim tax on your charitable donations. All you have to do is remember to include details of your charitable gifts on your self-assessment tax form to claim your additional personal tax relief (this being the difference between the basic rate of 20% and your higher rate).

If you still pay tax on a private pension, a savings account, or pay Capital Gains Tax, you are still classed as a UK tax payer. Therefore, you can Gift Aid your donations if you’ve paid enough tax in the year to cover the amount we are reclaiming on your donations.
Please note that income from state pensions alone may not qualify as you would need to earn above the personal allowance threshold to pay income tax.
You can support as many UK charities as you like through Gift Aid!
All you need to do is return a declaration to each charity that you support and ensure that you’re paying enough tax during the year to cover your total annual donations.
If your circumstances have changed and you will not pay enough tax to cover the Gift Aid on your donations, you must notify the charities you are donating to. Please email us at admin@avidsangelscatrescue.co.uk and ask for the declaration to be withdrawn or for a particular donation to be excluded from the scheme.
Please note that it is your responsibility to notify us of any withdrawal from the Gift Aid scheme as soon as possible – for example, if you stop paying tax or you think that a donation you are making would not be eligible for the scheme.
No. HMRC’s rules for Gift Aid state that it must be tax you’ve paid in the same year as your donation. Therefore, any previous tax you may have paid does not count.
Completing a Gift Aid declaration does not put you under any obligation to donate again.
You can cancel your declaration at any time, for example, if you no longer pay UK tax. Cancellation will not affect the Gift Aid donations you’ve already made. Once a declaration has been cancelled, any further donations you may make will not qualify. To cancel, please email us at admin@avidsangelscatrescue.co.uk
Thank you for your support!
