Cat of the Week - Oberon
Oberon is full of character. He has a gentle, affectionate side and a cheeky, attention-seeking streak that makes him incredibly endearing. He gives adorable nose kisses when you come home and, after a good nap, he loves soft belly rubs. He’ll happily curl up on the bed beside you at night too. He’s very communicative and will tap you with his paw if he feels you’re ignoring him.
If you’re looking for a cat with personality, charm, and a lot of love to give (on his terms!), Oberon may be your perfect match.
Reviews
Over a few weeks we looked at countless websites and hundreds of cats. Then we came across Avids Angels Cat Rescue.
It was clear from the website that AACR are truly committed to matching their cats with the right homes and that they would not compromise on this, however, the website also warm and encouraging.
The information provided about the cats was presented in a lovely way, with enough detail to give you a real sense of each cats personality and engaging pictures. The adoption process was fully explained and expectations were managed with advice that they would respond to any enquiries within 48 hours.
By this point we had come across rescue websites that told you to send an email and not to call them, and others who said that they would only respond if they thought you were suitable for one of their current cats. We had contacted two rescues who simply didn’t reply and one who tried valiantly to match us with a cat who was blatantly not suited to our circumstances. Needless to say we had been losing hope a little.
We sent over an expression of interest in an 8 month old cat called Phil and Michelle got in touch with us very quickly (far sooner than the promised 48 hours) and in addition to her email response she sent a text to let us know she had emailed so to please check our junk mail if we hadn’t received it. We had a really nice conversation back and forth and she advised that someone would be in touch to arrange a home inspection via video call.
We were contacted very quickly indeed by Michaela and arrangements were made for the call. While we were a little nervous to start with she was absolutely lovely and put us at ease. While the assessment was understandably very thorough, we laughed our way through it with Michaela and had nothing to be concerned about. It was not long afterwards that Michelle got in touch to say that we could adopt Phil if we were still happy to do so, and we made arrangements through her to visit him in his foster home.
Fosterer Sandra was absolutely lovely and very welcoming. She clearly adored Phil and it was really lovely to see him interacting with her own cats. We fell one hundred percent in love with him, so following the instructions from Michelle we signed the adoption agreement, paid the adoption fee and were able to bring our beautiful new fur baby home with us. We had decided before we adopted him that we would change his name (my boss is called Phil and we didn’t want any confusion if I said I spent the night cuddling Phil on the sofa 😉). We were a little bit apprehensive about telling Sandra, Michelle (and Phil) that we planned to change his name, but we needn’t have bothered. They were both very complimentary of our chosen name, Chester, and started using it straight away.
Throughout the process it was clear that the wellbeing of the cat was of paramount importance. We were asked to provide evidence of neutering and vaccination of our existing cat, the home check was very detailed and since collecting Chester there has been continued contact to check on his progress which is absolutely lovely.
I absolutely cannot recommend Avids Angels Cat Rescue enough to anyone who is looking to adopt a cat. You will pick up on a lovely positive vibe as soon as you look at the website and this continues through every interaction that you have with the team. Everyone we have spoken with and met has been warm, friendly and encouraging and it was an absolute pleasure to deal with them all. I hope that we continue to keep in touch for a long time to come.
Thank you to everyone at AACR - especially Michelle, Michaela and Sandra. You are truly wonderful people on a very special mission and we will always be grateful to you for trusting us to give Chester (Phil) his forever home.
All the best

I found myself in a heartbreaking situation where I had to make the difficult decision to surrender my kitten. My little boy, who has special needs, simply couldn’t adjust to having Coco in our home. The night terrors he experienced and his growing fear of the kitchen, which he associated with the kitten, left me feeling helpless and torn. After emailing over 20 rescue centres, I was close to giving up. But then I reached out to Avid Angel Rescue through Facebook, and within minutes, I received a call from Jenny.
To say that call was a lifeline would be an understatement. Jenny’s words, “You can bring him to me,” immediately lifted a weight I didn’t even know I was carrying. In that moment, I knew that Coco was going to be loved and cared for. Jenny didn’t judge me. She listened with compassion, understood my situation without hesitation, and reassured me that everything would be okay. I was exhausted, emotionally drained, and felt like a failure as a mother, but Jenny made me feel like I wasn’t alone.
Within 30 minutes, I filled out the surrender form, packed up all of Coco’s belongings, and drove to Jenny’s. When I arrived, I immediately knew Coco would be surrounded by love and other cats to play with. The atmosphere was warm, comforting, and full of care. I left with a full heart, knowing I had made the right decision for Coco and my family.
Thank you, Avid Angel Rescue, for being there when I needed you most. You not only saved my kitten, but you also gave me the peace of mind I desperately needed. I will be forever thankful for the kindness and support you’ve shown me during such a difficult time.read more

Very comprehensive checks were done smoothly and professionally with Michelle and Eileen. Jenny made us feel very welcome when we went to meet the kittens, even offering to keep them longer, due to our impending holidays, so as not to cause them any distress by boarding them so young. We were then invited us to visit, as often as we wanted.
Would highly recommend them to anybody wanting to adopt a kitten or cat. A very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly team, passionate about what they do.
