A Little Bit About Me

Beautiful Snowy has been on our waiting list to come into rescue since last year. Sadly, Snowy was living outside as a stray after her senior owner passed away. She had a facial abscess (caused by her teeth) and a skin condition.

Luckily for Snowy, a kind lady took her in and ensured that Snowy was looked after; the lady paid out of her own pocket for vet treatment to ensure that Snowy was spayed, vaccinated and received any necessary medical and dental treatment.

The great news is that Snowy’s skin and teeth are now under control – she has had 5 teeth removed, a scale and polish, as well as the abscess draining. Her skin seems to be allergy-related and the lady has put her on a grain and wheat free diet, resulting in Snowy’s skin now having all but healed up.

We don’t know exactly how old Snowy is, however she is estimated to be about 7 years old. Now that Snowy is back inside a house she has no interest in venturing outside and likes to stay firmly inside. She’s litter trained and will eat anything, though she can struggle to eat dry food with so many teeth missing.

Snowy’s only lingering health issue is that, as the teeth were all taken from the same side, she drools! Although this could be a ‘turn off’ for some owners, the lady looking after Snowy finds it adorable!

Snowy’s ideal home would be a retirement home. Snowy is a definite lap cat. Any and all of the senior people she’s met, she instantly wants to sit on their laps! She would spend all day sat on someone’s lap if she could and, if they stroked her as well, she’d be in heaven!

She’s not too fond of giddy children and will try to avoid them, but if they’re calm and don’t rush her, then they’re just another lap to sit on in her eyes. For this reason we would suggest any children in the home are calm, sensible and over the age of 10.

Snowy can live with other cats – she used to live with her daughter, Sparkles, who was adopted from Avid’s Angels Cat Rescue last year, and she has been cohabiting with the lady’s tom cat for nearly a year. She is happy to cuddle him, sleep with him, even bump him lovingly but she’s not at all pleased with his attempts to play and will chase him off, so an older roommate would be better for her. Dogs terrify Snowy; even when they’re barking outside she will flatten herself to the floor, so no households with dogs please.

Snowy loves teaser wands and generally anything feathery, and also a good kicker toy, but hisses at anything that makes noise as it scares her.

Snowy doesn’t like to be picked up or restrained, nor does she like being in the car, but these protests are all verbal. She’s had many chances to scratch the lady looking after her, or the vet, and never does. Whilst at the vet she just keeps her eyes closed and is mostly well-behaved.

Snowy truly deserves her happy ever after. Are you able to offer Snowy a calm retirement home? Once she likes you, she’s incredibly affectionate and will sit on your lap for hours.
